Blogging seems to go hand-in-hand with genealogy, and this web page has been created to allow me to share my family history with you–so you can learn, discover and use my research for your own purposes; or if you happen to be an extended family member–to enjoy family stories and histories as much as I do.
Genealogy is an enjoyable hobby, and one that keeps your mind active as we age. If you enjoy reading history, I can guarantee that you will enjoy dabbling in genealogy. Learning about life 100, 200 or 1,000 years ago is something we all seem to wonder about; and when it involves your own ancestors it becomes almost surreal.
Family mysteries seem to abound everywhere, and when you ‘crack’ a cold one (family mystery, that is), you enter a high that drives you to the next one. Far too many nights are spent at the computer till the wee hours of the night–knowing that an illusive cousin may be just behind the next click. And when he is, what a feeling of exhilaration and accomplishment you have. It’s incredible!
My kids think I am a little goofy to get so wrapped up in this; but did you know that genealogy is he second most popular hobby in the United States today? What’s #1 you ask? Actually, it’s NASCAR racing. Now talk about goofy….
I hope you enjoy my blogs. I hope you enjoy the work that I’ve done in tracking down and learning about my/our ancestors. And, I hope you take the time to smell the roses as you pass through life. We all seem to get so wrapped up in what we are doing that we seldom have time for other interests. For me, I do many things to keep busy, but every evening after dinner–and every morning after I read the news–I spend some relaxing and enjoyable time playing detective, trying to ferret out where great great grandpa Andrew Reiley got off to. Some day I’m going to find him; and when I do it will be off to see where his father went and how he has managed to stay so hidden for all those years.
Thanks for visiting, and I hope you enjoy what you find. If you have any questions, or wish to correct or add to anything you see; please drop me a line
And, by the way, the photo at the top of the page is my father and mother. Some of you have asked.
